Species: Bolovaxian

History: Superhero comics are a mess

Personality:

Kilowog was born to be a father. He's got it down pat. He's caring, supportive, loyal, and most importantly, he takes no shit. A father without a family, he's quick to adopt and in the best position to do so. Trainer of all Green Lantern recruits he views them all as his responsibility not just as his students but as his family. If not as a father then as a brother, a son, and always, unfailingly, a friend. His is the kind of loyalty that, once earned, never goes away. It stretches far, covering his own murderer simply because he had faith in the man who had done it.

Still, this isn't to say he's naive. Kilowog has seen what people can become and he's made mistakes that helped them get there. He knows that despite his own wishes, not everyone is so wholly good. Still, he doesn't hate them. He moves against them with determination, efficiency, but never hatred. It's with a sense of duty that he chases them and to stretch beyond that goes against his moral code. Makes him no better than the criminals they've become.

This might make it sound like he's a peaceful soul. He's not. Just a gentle one. He's seen enough tragedy, enough death, destruction and horrible things to want the negative. He'd rather believe in people and the good they can do then focus on the monsters they can become. Good-natured, he prefers to dwell on life than live shrouded by death, having known too much misery to want anymore. Why look back when you can forge ahead? Why crawl when you can walk?

This is a belief he tries to train into his recruits and while he understands the need to mourn, he has a low tolerance for self-pity. While this might have something to do with partial desensitization due to the sheer amount of loss he's had, it's more than likely due to his faithfulness to the Corps itself. Kilowog is an ideal Green Lantern. It's why he trains them. Why he's so admired and respected, why he's a living legend. He's lived through numerous battles and insane missions and no matter how much his faith wavers in the Corps, he never abandons it. As mentioned before, the Corps is all the family he has left and you don't abandon family no matter how messed up things get. That's because he doesn't believe in the Corps itself as much as he believes in the people that make up it and if anyone should endanger their fellow Lanterns, either through purposeful violence or merely buckling under stress, they have to answer to him.

And he can get pretty mad. It most frequently comes out in battle, when the safety of his recruits or peers is endangered. Even still, it's more of a somber anger than anything heated. Something reserved for enemies, for getting the job done, rather than out of pure emotion or personal vendetta. Even against Arkillo, his personal nemesis, an alien that slaughtered hundreds of lanterns, he was never vicious. Never actually furious. Just mad enough to get to job done, fed-up. He gets more heated with his recruits, particularly the ones who demand special attention. Demands like that go against his morals.

See, nice as he is, Kilowog is still very much an instructor in a military setting. He's the boot camp leader, the guy who shouts all those nasty things at you because it'll make you stronger. The guy who pushes you hard because he knows you can handle it and wants you to be as prepared as possible when the shit hits the fan. While he never goes so far as for it to be considered abuse, he is a strict and hard. Still, he's known to be extremely fair, never prizing one recruit over another, never harping on a single individual too much. This fairness can be seen outside of the training room too, applicable to battle and might even be the reason we never see him truly angry.

In summation, he's a pretty generic "good" space cop.

Abilities:

First off! There's the Green Lantern Power Ring. The Power Ring is the aptly named source of power for any Green Lantern. It's both a symbol of authority and a multipurpose tool fueled solely by the wearer's willpower. With it, Green Lanterns are able to channel any image from their minds and create a physical light-construct of it. For the purpose of the fleet, this ability will be limited: Kilowog will be unable to form any weapons or items that might be useful for ship repairs and other fleet functions. He will be able to create things like giant hands, umbrellas, fake lightbulbs, etc.

Along with the ability to create constructs, the rings also provide its wearer with a personal forcefield which allows them to breathe and fly in outer space. Again, per the rules of the fleet, this ability will be restricted so that Kilowog may only fly within the constraints of the fleet itself.

Though fueled by willpower, the ring will need to be recharged. Canonly, this is done through the use of a (physical) green lantern but as that is unavailable in Drift Fleet, it will adjust to recharge on its own once depleted. The recharge process will take twenty-four hours and, in those instances, cannot be used.

It's unclear exactly what powers Bolovaxians have as Kilowog is the only one, but it's likely they have increased physical strength. And telepathy. That's only applicable to other Bolovaxians, though, and, like I said, they dead.

Augment Skillset: Security! If we need more of that.
Sample:

[Hello, fleet. Here is Kilowog. Here is Kilowog occupying most of the free space in the kitchen, one hand clapped on top of the drink machine. He looks the kind type of stern. The look of a parent talking about why you really should like Aunt Martha because she does try and is going through some hard times.]

Alright, poozers. It's 'bout time we talk 'bout somethin'. Now, this is very important so I don't want any backtalk, ya hear? This's a problem the whole fleet faces an' it's something we gotta all work together ta fix.

[He pats the drink machine next to him, not hard but not gentle, either.] You all prob'ly know 'bout these things, yeah? [He shrugs.] If ya' wanna be nice, they're pretty good. They try. But I ain't nice. 'Specially not in the mornin'. And 'specially not when I don't got my coffee. And I know I ain't the only one. If bein' in the Corps taught me anythin', it's there's a lotta cranky bodies that can be fixed with a cup-o-joe.

[Placing an arm over the machine, he leans against it, gesturing loosely with his free hand.]

Now, I ain't proposin' anything crazy here. We're not gonna search teams an' all that. All's I'm sayin' is that next time we land someplace we should keep an eye out. Fleet could do a whole lotta good from a warm cup of coffee.

[Pitch done, he takes a sip from his cup and grimaces.] Ugh. What's the point of bubbly water?
